SIBERIA TIMES 10 - The celebration of our 10th anniversary

Saturday, 9th of July at 8 pm, environment centre Dresden

Dear Baikalplaners, dear Siberian maniacs, dear you all who have known and supported us over the years!

We were thrilled that you showed up in such a big number at the 9th of July. It was great fun to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Siberian-Saxon contacts with you!

We hope that the drink of the latest kind of vodka from Irkutsk (brand: “BAIK”) and – traditionally Russian – bread and pickles in addition made a contribution that you keep your enthusiasm for Siberia and especially the Lake Baikal region during the next five years.

And maybe you will contribute photos the next time, too, when there are the most beautiful pictures and the best stories of 15 years of Siberian-Saxony to look at and to listen to again.

And as it was announced, the Red Saloon with DJ Pixie alias Armin from Berlin invited you into the patio of the environment centre, to the Russkaya Diskoteka with music from Russia and the Ukraine (“Songs of the Orange Revolution”) after all the drinking, listening, and marvelling. It is true that Armin had some problems to get you onto the dance floor this time, but from 0:00 on you loosened up! Special thanks go to the team of the “BrennNessel” as well, who treated us and you to beer and grilled food. It must have tasted good, because at the end the punch and the barbecue were empty.

Yes, we have a reason to celebrate! It is 10 years ago that the first venturesome explorers of our circle of friends put their feet on Siberian ground and gave our long lasting love for this country, for its people, but of course especially for its “holy sea” - the incomparable Lake Baikal - the impulsion.

The initial infatuation and the mere exploring of the country and its people, who are so inscrutable to us sometimes, turned into a lasting relationship. With our project “Backpacker hostel in Irkutsk” we took off the gloves and gave our loose group of friends a name; ever since the Baikalplan association has been in existence. Since then, the main importance is not only attached to the travels and holidays, but primarily to the practical and financial support of sustainable projects at Lake Baikal. Therefore, we have also become European partner of the hiking trail project “Great Baikal Trail” since.

We thank you, who have accompanied and supported us during different travels and “missions”, who have assisted to build the Great Baikal Trail energetically, very much with this celebration!

Punctually at 8 pm we want to clink glasses with you to our anniversary. Subsequent to that we present the best pictures and stories of 10 years of Siberia-Saxony.

Welcome again! Bring your friends, because it is more fun to celebrate in a big group!

Best regards i poka,

your Claudia in the name of the Baikalplan management
